In order to gain great acceptance from the heterosexual world, proponents of gay rights and gay marriage cultivate a “born this way” narrative. But such a narrative is not as helpful as it may appear to be. Although straight folks may find comfort in believing that we just can’t help it, saying we were “born this way” places us in a defensive posture rather than a celebratory one… In the end, bisexuals and non-monosexuals as a whole are not creating a revolution for who and what we were born as – we are creating a revolution for who and what we are now, and who we will become. – How Queer! by Faith Beauchemin
